Leadership Programme in Agriculture and Agri-business

Agriculture continues to be one of the important sectors of the Indian economy. However, most of the farmers, especially small and marginal farmers, have to face hardships. A growing number of farmers are forced to leave agriculture in search of an alternative means of livelihood.

The highly unpredictable nature of present day conventional farming has made agriculture less attractive for the young generation. In order to attract young people to agriculture, farming needs to be profitable. It is important to eliminate the malpractices in supply chain so that the farmers get a better value for their produce. This requires interventions in post-harvest operations and market linkages. To address these issues, MAARDI conducts a 6 months programme in collaboration with Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, Drishtee Foundation, Noida and Ekgaon Technologies Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi.

The Leadership Programme in Agriculture and Agri-business is designed to create a pool of young entrepreneurs in post-harvest handling of agriculture products. The objective of the programme is to train young people as entrepreneurs in agri-business. The participants will undergo training on entrepreneurship and leadership development over a period of 6 months. The training will include a combination of in-class sessions, experiential learning through field immersion and internship.
